In Mesa for a Visit

During the last three weeks, we posted pictures taken in Birmingham, Mesa, and Flagstaff. Yes, we were on vacation. I know..."vacation" is not exactly the correct word to use for a retired couple. If you ask my working friends, they'll tell you we're on vacation 24/7. How about we've been traveling.

We left home on May 14 driving first to Birmingham for Jackson's school play that afternoon. After the play was over, we continued on to Mesa, Arizona, arriving on the 17th in time to see Ian play his final flag football game. The following Tuesday we went to Savannah's school for the celebration of her graduation from elementary school into junior high. And the Tuesday after Memorial Day, Nancy and I drove to the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff with Savannah and Ian. We left for home on the 29th stopping off for an overnight in Birmingham and finally arriving back in Huntsville on June 1st.

You may wonder about gas prices for this little adventure. We drove a total of 4,286 miles using 188 gallons of gasoline costing $704.48. On average we paid $3.75 a gallon with the least expensive gasoline in Arizona and the most expensive in Alabama.

Oh yes! I forgot. Look who we brought back with us. Savannah is going to spend a couple weeks with us, and then she and Nancy will be flying back to Mesa. But more about that next week.
