Yesterday we saw our granddaughter Savannah off at the Birmingham airport. She arrived safely in Phoenix about 8 hours later. We had an interesting and fun 11 days with her; shopping, movies, games, long talks and some one-on-one time, Nancy's favorite. Savannah just finished her freshman year at the University of Arizona. It's pretty hard coming up with things to do with an 18-year-old, but she had her cell and computer and was able to pass the down-time keeping in touch with her friends.
A couple weeks ago I posted a picture of our other grand-daughter sitting with us on our patio swing. I could not resist the temptation to duplicate that picture. So here we are posing with Savannah for a very similar shot. I don't really think that Savannah considered her visit a camp experience, but I thought the title was appropriate.
On Thursday we drove to Birmingham so Savannah could spend some time with her Uncle Mark and Aunt Jenny and cousins Jackson, John Michael, and Margaret. That went very fast since we had to head for the airport shortly after breakfast the next morning. One of the things Savannah noticed was the "greeness" of the area. Yes, we are even greener than usual with a lot of rain lately.
Today is the anniversary of the birth of our daughter Melissa. Yep, she was born on the Fourth of July. At her age in this picture she thought that all the fireworks were in celebration of her birthday. Nancy and I still like to pretend that it's so. Here's a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our daughter Melissa and a HAPPY FOURTH to y'all.
