Alabama Snow

It's Friday evening, and I'm writing in anticipation of the picture that I plan to take early tomorrow morning. All week long the meteorologists on all 4 local stations have been calling for up to 6 inches of snow beginning in just a couple of hours. However, while I WRITE in anticipation of the snow, most of Huntsville is shopping for that last loaf of bread or carton of milk or roll of toilet paper. The last major snowfall that I recall in Huntsville was a week before Melissa was married in March of 1993! Nancy says there was another smaller snowfall 5 or 6 years ago. So that's 2 snowfalls in 15 years, but over that time the meteorologists have called for snow innumerable times, closing schools, sending parents to grocery stores, and disappointing many of the young and young-at-heart.

So, now, you already know what happened because you can see the picture above, which rain, snow, sleet, or hail (or sun) cannot prevent me from taking.

[Saturday Morning] Nothing! I awoke ready to run outside to take a picture of the house either covered with snow or rain or sunshine, but it was just overcast. So the picture above is just the current weather radar downloaded from one of the local TV stations, and as you can see, all the snow is SOUTH of us. We talked with our Birmingham grandkids, and they're getting dressed to go outside and play in their snow. No disappointment there.

[Saturday Afternoon] Well Birmingham did get some snow, and my son Mark sent the snapshot below as proof. He's pictured on his deck with Jackson (5) and John Michael (2½).
