On Wednesday our youngest grandson, John Michael, took time out from school and tennis to celebrate his 14th birthday. We could not be in Birmingham for that party, so Jenny sent us this picture. He looks very excited. Is it the giant cookie? Or the thought of taking a fire extinguisher to those candles. Or he just might be sucking in his breath getting ready to blow them out in accord with the generally accepted tradition. Later that evening we did call, 3 times. Apparently John Michael's phone wasn't working well. But we did finally get through, and we did sing the birthday song for his listening pleasure.
