On The Summit

Last week I posted a couple pictures of our grandson Jackson climbing Mount Shasta in California. He returned home Saturday evening, so on Sunday we drove to Birmingham to get first hand all the details of his 2-day adventure. Mt. Shasta has an elevation of 14,162 feet, and the picture above shows Jackson, after completing the climb, standing on its highest point.

So, I had to ask. Two days. What about "going to the bathroom"? Jackson brought out a piece of paper about 20x20 inches with a bulls-eye in the middle. He suggested that we would know what the bulls-eye was for. After using the target, the paper was to be folded up and placed into a paper bag. That bag was folded up and placed into a second paper bag, which was folded and placed into a plastic zip locked bag and carried back to the camp. Nothing was to be left on the mountain except perhaps some yellow snow.

School began in Alabama this week. Jenny sent us this first-day-of-school picture on Thursday. On the left is our mountain climbing grandson Jackson (17 this month) who is a junior in high school. Margaret (10) is entering 5th grade and John Michael (14) is an eighth grader. Do well, guys.
