Snow Day

Back home in Pennsylvania they measure their snow in feet. In Huntsville we measure our snow in tenths of inches. But regardless of how it's measured, the effect is the same. The mere threat of snow shuts the city down. Schools and local government offices, except the post office of course, are first to close. Lots of stores follow closely behind. It snowed Tuesday morning. I took this picture when I walked to the mailbox right around noon. It was a very quiet Tuesday morning since everyone, including us, stayed home. The really bad part was the temperature. Along with the snow, we had temps between 8 and 15 degrees for several days. Not record setting temps, but cold enough to keep us in the house until Thursday.

Last week I posted a picture of our daughter Melissa and our new son-in-law Chris. Melissa sent us a draft of the wedding announcement she plans to send out some time soon. She gave me permission to include it in this week's post. We think it's cute.

In 4 days my sister Barbara will have another birthday. And from then till my birthday in March she'll be just 3 years younger than me. So we wish her a HAPPY BIRTHDAY just a few days early.
