Last Sunday was my birthday. We, or actually as it turns out, I was planning a quiet day at home. But Nancy and Jenny planned a surprise visit that I knew nothing about. So last Saturday I was sitting in front of my computer when I heard a knock on the back door. But nobody was there. I thought that Nancy must have knocked on the laundry room wall asking me to come there to help her with something. When I walked into the kitchen, I ran into Mark. He told me the kids were out back expecting to surprise me when I opened the back door. So I did and they did. We had a nice visit. Mark, Jenny, Jackson (14), John Michael (11), and Margaret (8) stayed overnight, and Nancy took this picture before they left on Sunday. Nancy also treated everybody to dinner at Logan's Saturday evening.

This past Thursday marked exactly 10 years since I retired from Teledyne Brown Engineering. I have enjoyed those 10 years.

Jenny, John Michael, and Margaret returned to Huntsville last night. John Michael is playing in a tennis tournament, so we all enjoyed a little tennis this afternoon. I took my camera and telephoto lens and captured this image as John Michael is preparing to serve.
