Music Camp 2017

A month or so ago, Nancy and I volunteered to help at our church's summer music camp. That's where we could be found every day this week. The camp was for kids ages 6 to 12, and about 40 of the "precious darlings" showed up each day. The camp was organized by one of the persons in charge of the music ministry at our church, Dr. Rebecca Whited. She's that nice lady standing between us in the picture above.

It was mostly music all week, but there was also a group that wrote and acted in a skit offering a message about kindness. And a group that made a quilt. Yes, a quilt. And everybody worked on a different craft each day including painting the T-shirts each wore at the closing concert last night. Musically there were tone chimes, guitars, handbells, and even musical composition. And, of course, singing.

Nancy spent most of her time with the craft groups each morning. I helped with the handbell, guitar, and piano activities. In the special thanks section of the closing concert program, Rebecca put the word "etc!" after our list of contributions. Well, someone had to keep the kids from their God-given mission to seek and destroy.

It was actually a fun week, and I'm glad we found the time to participate. And special kudos to Dr. Rebecca who put the whole thing together.
