Nancy's Ancestry

In the Fall last year I bought a kit from Ancestry.com that, using DNA collected from saliva, could be used to determine one's ethnicity. I planned to give it to Nancy for Christmas, which I did. But then, I thought, why not buy two and check out my ethnicity at the same time. So, after Christmas, we spit into little tubes and sent the samples off to AncestryDNA for analysis. We got the results last week. I discussed my ethnicity last Saturday. Let's look at Nancy's this week.

Last week I concluded that I am 100% European American. Apparently, Nancy has a great, great, great, great, great-grandparent or two from as far away from Europe as India! And it looks like they passed though the Middle East on their way to Hungary or Poland. However, that first bar (Europe East) is dead on. Nancy's paternal grandparents, George and Mary (Tilistyak) Kozak, immigrated from Hungary while her maternal grandparents, Joseph and Anna (Szurek) Novak, arrived in the States from Poland. It also looks like some distant relative(s) might have visited several other places in Europe or maybe some English nobleman passed through eastern Europe a couple hundred years ago. In any event, I'm still going with European American for Nancy. Interesting, don't you think?

Yesterday afternoon, while I was sitting in the parking lot at the bridge center, I noticed that the odometer on our Prius had arrived at another milestone. I'm a bit weird about noticing things like that. Also, as you can see, the Prius's main battery is nearly fully charged.
