Last Saturday was entirely devoted to my 55th high school reunion. To begin the day, we joined classmates George and Carol, Eileen and her husband Victor, and Caryl and her husband Kent for a lunch hosted by Chuck and Adele Kupchella at their home in Ebensburg, Pennsylvania. It lasted from 11:30 till around 5:00. Just for reference, in the picture above George is second from the left in the back row and Carol is on the left in the front row. Eileen is the blond right smack in the middle of the second row. Caryl is on the right in the front row, and Chuck is third from the right, way in the back row. I'm wearing a blue shirt in the back row next to George.
The actual reunion began at 6:00 at the Cottage Inn Restaurant, also in Ebensburg. I think the most interesting thing about the evening is hearing another person's high school memory about me and not being able to recall a single part of the event someone else remembers so well. And vice versa! I won't/can't name everyone in the picture above that Nancy took after we finished eating.
My most interesting moments of the evening concerned the person sitting dead center in the front row. I sat across from her during dinner, and I simply could not recall her being in my high school class. She said that was because she was a "quiet" one. I'm not sure what that says about me since she knew who I was. If there had been a reward for the number of progeny, I'm pretty sure, with 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, she would have won.
Fun day, enjoyable night. Glad I stretched our vacation out long enough to attend.
