It started 11 days ago. We couldn't get a dial tone on our house phone. I reported that to the phone company via the internet Tuesday evening. I began getting daily text messages from AT&T like "Sorry. We are unable to repair your service today." And last Friday I received the same message followed by "Rescheduled as priority for Monday." And then at 7:30 AM last Saturday our door bell rings. Understand, if you will, we don't get out of bed on most days before 8, so we were sound asleep. I threw on some pants, answered the door, and found an AT&T repair man who told us our service had been restored. So we now have an operating house phone.
Beginning at about the same time, albeit not related (I think), our cable TV began acting strange. I have an app that can be used to determine the status of the network in my local area. That app informed me that Comcast was suffering "multiple outages" and they were working to restore service. They anticipated that everything would be back in order by 8 AM the following day. On the next morning, they were saying 4 PM. After a day or 2, they admitted to not knowing when service would be fully restored. Finally, last night, everything was back to normal, and the app is today reporting "All clear".
And lastly, Nancy had a package for our granddaughter Margaret that I took to the post office last Saturday. She asked that I mail the package with guaranteed delivery for Monday. Birmingham is 100 miles south of Huntsville, so it shouldn't have been a problem for the post office to deliver the package on Monday. Most things we mail arrive there in a day. But it didn't arrive Monday. Nor did it arrive Tuesday or Wednesday, very much to Margaret's disappointment and Nancy's distress. Nancy went to the post office to have a "short discussion" with the clerk just before closing on Wednesday. However, it finally arrived on Thursday much to the delight of my granddaughter and my wife. Jenny sent us this picture.
