First, let's clear up any misunderstanding of the words "Iron City". I know that if you ever lived or are currently living anywhere around Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, those words have an entirely different meaning than they do in Birmingham, Alabama; the Iron City of the South. Birmingham is well regarded for its iron and steel manufacturing capability. So in this context we are referring to the city and not the bottle.
Nancy and I traveled to Birmingham yesterday for some sporting events. Last night we watched our grandson John Michael play baseball (his team won 8 to 7) and this morning we watched another grandson Jackson compete in the Iron City Spring Classic swim meet. That Crossplex is quite a sporting facility. Click here to check it out. Jackson swam in 4 heats taking a first in the 50 meter freestyle, 2 seconds (breaststroke and backstroke, pictured above) and a fourth in the butterfly. Sorry about the picture. I only had my cell phone, and the scoreboard was on the other side of the natatorium. We took Jackson to Donatos for pizza when he was finished and spent some quality one-on-one time with him. We returned to Huntsville just a little while ago.
