This is the last day of our grandkids vacation in Huntsville. It's been a fun week. Early in the week, before the rain started, we enjoyed some outside activities. We played catch (baseball) in the back yard and threw a frisbee around in the circle in front of the house. We also picked a ton of blueberries. On Wednesday Nancy took all 3 kids to the Huntsville Botanical Gardens. They took their turn at giant checkers, lots of water features, and finished up in the butterfly house. Each kid was able to have a butterfly land on his/her hand. We have butterfly pictures. Maybe next week. Then the rain came. And it's still raining.
We planned a trip to the ballpark Wednesday evening for a Huntsville Stars baseball game to be followed by fireworks. The rain took care of that. Thursday evening the Space and Rocket Center promised fireworks, rain or shine. Well, not exactly shine since the fireworks were scheduled for after dark. But you get the idea. We arrived a couple hours early and enjoyed some of the sites at the Center like getting our picture taken with an "astronaut" we found wondering around the place. The fireworks didn't start until 9:45, and it poured rain for the entire thing. It was fun watching Jackson trying to hold an umbrella and cover his ears. They weren't too wet by the time we got back to the car. Nancy and Margaret watched the whole thing from the car.
Yesterday the boys and I went to the theater..."Despicable Me 2". But I can't talk about our week without mentioning the board game "Clue". We played marathon Clue. I won the first 2 games, but after the boys figured it out, they won the next 20.
We're cleaning up now, getting ready to return to Birmingham. It's amazing the amount of trash 3 kids, especially John Michael, can create in a week. Ha Ha
We all called Aunt Melissa on her Birthday, July 4th, and sang to her. Happy, Happy Birthday, Melissa.
