On Sunday, February 19, Nancy's sister Elaine and her husband Karl arrived at our house for their annual get-away-from-the-snow-in-Michigan visit. They stayed until the following Friday when they headed off to Gattlinburg, Tennessee, for a second week in the South. They returned home yesterday to find 20 fresh inches of snow at their doorstep! I wonder if they just gave a momentary thought to turning around and heading back to Huntsville.
But while they were here Karl said he wanted to visit the Jack Daniel's Distillery. So on Wednesday we drove to Lynchburg, TN, and toured that facility. The picture above was taken by me right outside the visitors' entrance. You can also see the picture taken by our tour guide by clicking here. Immediately after the tour we enjoyed some good Southern cooking at Miss Mary Bobo's Boarding House Restaurant. It's always an interesting time when the 4 of us get together. Plans are already in place for another gathering in the Fall.
Note: the same storm that gave Michigan 20 inches of snow produced a lot of tornadoes throughout the South including north Alabama where we live. This time the storms passed us by without causing any damage in our immediate area. However, places just north of town were not so lucky.
