Bullseye

Tuesday afternoon Nancy and I drove to Birmingham to return John Michael to his parents. It was the end of his 1-week vacation with Grandma and Paw Paw. But it was also the beginning of Jackson's vacation as we returned to Huntsville on the same day with Jackson (10 this month) in the back seat.

In addition to a Wimpy Kid movie in the theater, Harry Potter on the TV, a Lego set of Big Ben, and several games of Monopoly, I thought an almost 10-year-old could throw a dart or two. So far he's only stuck himself in the foot once.

The other night, while he was telling us how it was too early to go to bed, Grandma said that he could stay up another hour if he threw a bullseye with the next dart. You can see how that backfired. The next morning he slept till almost 9 o'clock.

Aside: Jackson bought a Rubik's cube the other day and randomized it before he got home. I was asked to put it back in its original orientation. I have no idea how to do that, so I searched for an app for my smartphone. Sure enough there is just such a creature. It's called QBot. Unbelievable! Just plug in the layout of the cube, and it gives step by step instructions, in 3-dimensions and virtual animation, to return the cube to its original orientation. Just a very neat bit of programming.
