On March 29 Nancy and I received an early morning phone call from Nancy's Mom's personal care facility in Pennsylvania. Her Mom had fallen and had broken her hip. She had surgery that same day at Altoona Hospital. On April 1 she was transported to a local Health South Rehabilitation Hospital to begin several weeks of physical therapy.
Nancy was, herself, still doing therapy following knee surgery, so we could not immediately jump in the car and drive to PA. We did finally get the OK from Nancy's doctor and left for PA on the 9th. We've been here ever since with Nancy making daily and sometimes day-long visits to her Mom. I took the above picture during one of those visits. Yesterday her Mom was moved back to the skilled nursing section of Garvey Manor. They will continue her therapy, and when she is able to navigate herself, they will move her back into her personal care (assisted living) apartment.
Now that she's back at Garvey, we feel much better about her situation, so we'll be heading back to Alabama tomorrow.
