While we were in Pennsylvania last weekend, our grandson John Michael celebrated his 6th birthday with a party for his closest friends and relatives at the local bowling alley. I'm not sure I trust JM with a bowling ball, but that cake sure does look good. Our thanks to Jenny for sending us these pictures. And to JM...Happy Birthday...cha, cha, cha!

We returned to Huntsville on Tuesday. The tornados shut down the electric grid for most of north Alabama, including our home, from around 5 PM on Wednesday until Monday morning. Four and a half days without power was enough to ruin all the food in our refrigerators, so we spent Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning packing it up and carrying it off for disposal. Don't feel bad for us, however. Many, many people in Alabama are suffering from the numerous tornados the took lives and destroyed homes and businesses throughout the state. We are among the lucky ones.
