Nancy and I returned to Birmingham on Thursday so we could be here for John Michael's birthday, which is today. This picture was taken yesterday by his teacher during his kindergarten class' birthday celebration. His teacher requested donuts instead of cake. She was probably thinking of what 4- and 5-year-olds do with a piece of cake, a plate, and a fork! He wore that birthday crown for most of the day after coming home from school. So let's have a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY for John Michael from his Grandma and Paw Paw.

Last week I posted that we were awaiting our first round of severe weather over the weekend. Well most of the immediate Huntsville area was spared, but 30 miles to the south and east of us, there was major damage from several twisters. We got a lot of rain and some high winds, but nothing like the rest of the Southeast.
