The topic heading all the news programs in Huntsville is the temperature. Wednesday was the first day this year that the temp reached 100. The key is, of course, to stay indoors. Yesterday at around 4 PM the temp on our patio was 98, but the humidity was only slightly higher than 50%. So I was comfortable when I stepped outside for 10 seconds to snap the picture above.

Nancy has had this little red rocking chair since she was a toddler. Our kids sat in it a generation ago, and all of our grandchildren have enjoyed rocking on that little chair. Pictured to the right is Margaret showing off her rocking skills during her last visit to our home.

And speaking of grandchildren, our oldest grandkid will be 14 tomorrow. Yesterday Nancy and I started to copy our important VCR tapes onto DVDs. The first one we worked on I called the "Summer of '96" and it covered the first four months in the life of our first grandchild. So one day early, let's give a shout out and a wish for a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Savannah from Grandma and Grandpa.
