Fathers' Day and Mark's Birthday

Last Sunday Nancy and I drove to Birmingham to join Mark's extended family for a celebration of Fathers Day and Mark's 36th birthday. By dinner time, everyone had arrived. First order of business was to catch a picture of all the fathers. Left to right in the picture above are Jenny's Dad Joe, yours truly, our son Mark, and Jenny's sister's husband Todd. All proud fathers, you bet.

After dinner it was time for the birthday cake and the requisite singing. In the picture to the right Mark is trying to convince his son John Michael that Dad is supposed to blow out the candles. That's Todd's little girl Emma on the left side of the picture. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we stayed overnight for some extra time with the family. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Mark.

Update...we apparently have succeeded in keeping the mockingbirds away from our blueberries. Nancy just picked a quart, some of which I enjoyed with my breakfast cereal. You won't know what I'm talking about if you missed last week's posting. It is, however, still in the archive.
