Thirteen years ago today, Nancy and I became first-time grandparents, and today our oldest grandchild, Savannah, becomes a teenager. No, we can't imagine where all the days have gone since that birth, but Savannah started out wonderful and keeps getting better. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Savannah. We know you'll be a superstar.

Nancy and I returned from Orange Beach, Alabama, on Wednesday. We had just spent five fun-filled days with Mark, Jenny, and the kids in sunny LA (Lower Alabama). The day before we packed up to leave, we sat down on the back porch of Mark's partner's beach house and took this picture. Our Alabama grandchildren in the picture are Jackson, who will be seven next month and who is missing some front teeth, John Michael (4), and Margaret, who was born this year on Valentine's Day.
