Returning from Arizona

On our way back from Arizona, we drove to a rest stop in southeast Arizona amid a number of large stones. We stopped and took lots of pictures. I particularly like the first one where a solitary tree found enough soil to grow among the rocks. I used Nancy in the second picture to give a better idea of the size of the stones. We stopped a few hours later at a rest stop outside Las Cruces, New Mexico. There I took a picture of a giant road runner protecting the tourists from the local creepy crawlers.

We arrived in Huntsville on Wednesday. We thoroughly enjoyed our 13-day vacation visiting Mark's family in Birmingham and Melissa's family in Mesa. We did spend about half of those days on the road, however, where we listened to a couple of good books and discussed the weather and the other drivers. It's about a 25-hour drive to Arizona from Huntsville. Good to be home again!
