New River Gorge Bridge

Last Wednesday, on our way to Pennsylvania to visit Nancy's Mother, we crossed the New River Gorge in West Virginia and stopped at the Canyon Rim Visitor Center to get a good view of the bridge. Naturally it started to snow/sleet/rain as we entered the building. Our first picture wasn't too clear, but 20 minutes later the rain let up and I got another chance. Pass your mouse over the picture to see a better shot of the bridge. The New River Gorge Bridge carries U.S. Highway 19 traffic over the New River at a height of 876 feet, making it the highest vehicular bridge in the Americas, and the second-highest in the world.

Later that day we arrived in Gallitzin, Pennsylvania, to begin our visit with Nancy's Mother and other family members. Nancy's sister Elaine and her husband Karl drove in from Michigan yesterday afternoon to spend the weekend. We're looking forward to plenty of quality time with everybody.
