Margaret and Paw Paw

It took a while, but I finally got up nerve enough to hold my new granddaughter. She was wee little for the longest time. Recall that she was born 9 weeks early. Nancy and I went to Birmingham last Sunday for a short visit, and when I saw Jenny trying to cook supper and hold the sleeping baby, I saw an opportunity to help. I must have done OK. She slept right through the whole event, and no, I didn't drop her.

On a different subject: last week I posted a picture of something rediscovered during our spring cleaning. Earlier this week, still cleaning out a memorabilia drawer, Nancy found an envelope addressed to her and sent in 1964 from Mercy Hospital in Altoona, Pennsylvania. At one time it contained her paycheck. Interestingly, above her name on the envelope, was printed her social security number! Right there...for everyone to see. It was truly a more innocent time. In this time, I shredded the envelope. Teeny tiny pieces.
