Last week we started working on our bedroom. Not just cleaning, but painting, varnishing, plumbing, and framing. Nancy discovered this full-page ad at the bottom of a memorabilia drawer. The ad was placed in the Pittsburgh Press by Horne's Department Store on the day the Steelers were to play the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl XIV...29 years ago. The Steelers had already won 3 Super Bowls including a win over the Dallas Cowboys in Super Bowl XIII for which the young boy must have prayed in the previous year. Notice the poster already on the wall from that year.

I wonder if he prayed for the Steelers most recent win in Super Bowl XLIII. In both games the Steelers were prohibitive favorites with the top rated defense but came very close to losing. In both games an interception by a linebacker was key to the final outcome of the game. And interestingly, Super Bowls XIV and XLIII are the only two Super Bowls where one of the teams had nine or less wins in the regular season.
