A Birthday Cheesecake

I published last week's web page on Saturday and neglected to make any mention of the importance of the following two days. Sunday, of course, was Father's Day, which was celebrated by packing up and returning from the beach: Mark, Jenny, and the kids to their new house in Birmingham, and us to our home in Huntsville. That trip was marked by a 1-hour delay on I-65 while they cleaned up a traffic accident just south of Montgomery. When I say 1-hour delay, I really mean sitting in a "parked" car in 101 degree temperature 5 miles south of an accident of which we saw no trace when the tie-up finally broke.

That was Sunday. Monday was Mark's birthday. We celebrated that on Saturday. In the morning, Nancy and I drove into Pensacola, Florida, and shopped for a cheesecake and special candles. After dinner we broke out the dessert, lit up the candles, and sang the traditional songs. Both boys, in the picture above, appear to be astounded that their dad was able to blow out both candles in a single try! Happy birthday, Mark.
