Nancy Makes a Visit to Arizona

On January 11 Nancy boarded a plane and flew to Phoenix to visit our daughter Melissa, our son-in-law Treacey, our granddaughter Savannah (10), and our grandson Ian (8 in 5 days).

In her words: "It was a week packed with quality time with all. The kids had a long weekend that we took full advantage of it by going to the movies, doing some shopping, and playing games on their game cube. They actually taught me to play some of their games, and we played when it was too cold or windy to be outside. Phoenix had a low in the 20s over the weekend and set some records."

"In spite of the cold, Ian had a flag football game last Saturday. Those of us on the sidelines got a little cold, but he looked comfortable on the field. He is quite the little football player. I would call him a coaches dream. He has a lot of hustle, and I think a really good understanding of the game. Ian is about to celebrate his 8th birthday on the 25th. Happy Birthday, Ian."

"Savannah is growing up to be a nice young lady. She is in the school band and plays the bells and the drums. Girl Scouts also keeps her busy. We did a little shopping together, and she already has her own style. Both kids put on a special show for me that included singing, dancing with special lighting and music. What wonderful imaginations. I was very entertained."

"Melissa is quite the cook and baker. We ate in most of the time and had some tasty dishes and homemade breads and rolls and cookies; all made without preservatives. It was nice having some time alone with her."

"Treacey is working a little less and seems to be quite happy with that. I love it when we all get together and have some interesting discussions. And of course take time for pictures like the one above."

With all the snow and ice in Texas, Nancy was a little concerned about the return trip since she had a connecting flight in Houston. But she managed to make it home between the storms this past Thursday.

Well Ian isn't the only family member that has a birthday this month. I would be remiss if I didn't wish my sister Barbara a "Happy Birthday"! Barbara and her husband Rafik live in Tunis, Tunisia. Three of her four daughters live in the U.S. and Canada. A trip to visit Melissa in Arizona seems like a hop, skip, and a jump by comparison. Happy Birthday! Barb.
