Snow in Alabama

After about a week of dire predictions by the local weathermen that Huntsville was going to be inundated with snow, we awoke last Thursday to this. The neighborhood had about an inch of very wet snow on the grassy areas. My house is the red brick one on the far left with the 3 Southern Pines in the front yard. Yes, it looks dark and gloomy, but that's because I took this picture just before the sun came up. And it was overcast. The streets were wet but not with the inches of ice predicted. I drove to work 15 minutes later in my truck without incident. By the way, if you're wondering about the apparent brown color of my front yard, that's its color. This type of grass turns brown when the weather turns cold. When it warms up, we cut off the dead grass, and the grass roots come to life with fine green grass.
