Just this past Thursday, one of my Academy classmates sent an email to almost the whole class wishing a "HAPPY 42 ANNIVERSARY TO ALL". With that, we were all reminded of the day we finally finished our four years of training at the United States Merchant Marine Academy: August 2, 1965.

The next day another classmate reminded us all that 46 years ago (on August 3) we entered the Academy to begin our 4 years. I had trouble believing that date, so I started searching through the yearbook and other records. I actually found the telegram from my Congressman appointing me to the Academy. And of course I came across my yearbook picture.

Addendum (August 22): After much searching of records, we finally determined that we entered the Academy on August 20, 1961. I think we can all agree with that date.
